Meet Dennis M. Baker: A New Resource for Nonprofit Leaders on Givelink
At Givelink, we believe nonprofit leaders deserve more than just a platform to raise funds. They deserve a full ecosystem of support: tools, community, and people who can help them grow.
That is why we built our Resource Hub — a space inside Givelink where nonprofit leaders can discover partners, experts, and resources that go beyond in-kind donations.
Today, we’re proud to feature one of our newest partners: Dennis M. Baker — author, nonprofit consultant, and board strategist.
Who Is Dennis Baker?
Dennis Baker is the CEO of DM Baker Media Relations, a firm specializing in media messaging, crisis management, and technology innovation. He is also the founder of Polis Assist, Inc., a mobile technology company recognized as the #2 app by LA Weekly and a finalist in the Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong Innovation Awards.
He is a graduate of Westmont College and a Hansard Scholar at the London School of Economics. His career spans the U.S. Senate, the British House of Commons, FOX-TV, and nonprofit fundraising at scale — having raised millions of dollars for museums, hospitals, universities, and international aid organizations.
Dennis also serves on multiple nonprofit boards, including the EPIC Impact Society, and is an active member of the Nexus Summit community and the Anti-Defamation League Glass Leadership group.
The Book: Building Your Board of Directors for Life
Published in September 2025 through Post Hill Press / Simon & Schuster, Building Your Board of Directors for Life is a practical and inspiring guide to intentionally curating a personal advisory network.
The premise is simple but powerful: just as a company relies on a board of directors for strategic guidance, every leader can build their own personal board — a trusted group of mentors and advisors who provide direction, accountability, and encouragement through every stage of life and career.
The book offers actionable strategies for:
- identifying the right people to invite into your circle,
- approaching and building those relationships intentionally,
- and sustaining them over time.
It also emphasizes the importance of diverse perspectives and servant leadership — values that resonate deeply with nonprofit leaders.
Why This Matters for Nonprofit Leaders
Most nonprofit leaders are builders.
They are building programs, teams, donor relationships, and community impact — often all at once. But many are doing it without a network intentionally designed to support them.
Dennis’s framework is a natural fit for this world. Whether you are:
- an executive director navigating a growth phase,
- a program manager stepping into leadership,
- or a founder trying to scale your organization,
having a structured advisory network can change your trajectory.
His work is especially relevant for organizations in our network that are in the early stages of governance, where having the right advisor in your corner can make all the difference.
Dennis and Givelink
Dennis connected with Givelink through Michael Simkins at Spokes for Nonprofits, and the conversation quickly grew into a collaboration.
He has already been introduced to several of our nonprofit partners — including We Lead Ours and Tracy Community Connections Center — and is actively engaging with leaders across our network.
We’re delighted to feature him in our Resource Hub so that every nonprofit leader on Givelink can discover his work directly.
